Leadership Diagnostics overview: a unique (and proprietary) approach to ensuring IT leaders focus on value
We help our clients strengthen the leadership capability within their various IT and Digital teams, increasing the value delivered from your various IT and digital investments. We take a deep dive into the culture, mission and purpose of your organisation in order to fully understand the challenges that you face in evolving towards a more digital and technology enabled business. To do this, we partner with CEOs, CHROs, Boards and Global Technology leaders in order to help identify and establish the optimal leadership culture necessary to best meet the demands placed on them.
Our aim throughout this process is to help cascade these behaviours down through the lower level teams and even into their supplier/partner organisations. After all, it’s a large eco-system that needs to be well aligned for success.
Our approach is to organisations with a more structured and data-driven approach to assessing Senior Technology & Digital Leaders. Using our proprietary framework (EQ/IQ) and proprietary (360 ) assessment tool, our approach help our clients make more informed decisions using data when it comes to either appointing the right people into their roles, helping teams work together and/or developing their senior leaders towards more modern/agile ways of working.
Our research began over 20 years ago and has involved conducting over 7000 interviews with technology executives, many of whom operate within the world’s leading brands. The executives interviewed were spread across five continents, covering multiple sectors, each with varying degrees of digital maturity. We learned that there are certain qualities that successful leaders have, that others do not. Our research pointed to ten critical competencies (see below), each underpinned by a set of behavioural indicators that help provide more detail and definition of what ‘good’ looks like.
Our EQ/IQ Framework: the glue to our Leadership Diagnostics approach
The assessment aspect of our Leadership Diagnostics is held together by our EQ/IQ framework. We work alongside our clients to tailor all aspects of the diagnostic with these 10 competencies in mind.
Our Leadership Diagnostics Process:
Outlined below is the 8 stage process of our Leadership Diagnostics service. Each project is uniquely planned out to this format, ensuring an accurate and valuable assessment of any team.
Our assessment process:
During the first stages of our Leadership Diagnostic process we provide the client with our Competency & Benchmark portal. The client then reviews and determines the culture attributes they want team members to be assessed against. The client is then able to select 5 (or more) underpinning behaviours from each of our 10 EQ/IQ competencies to assess within their teams.
Clients are also asked to set a benchmark for each of the behaviours they have asked us to assess, this benchmark acts as an indicator of what level each candidate should be working at in regard to each behaviour.
By working with the client to select competencies and behaviours from our EQ/IQ framework as well as specific benchmarks, we are able to provide a unique assessment that fits the needs of the client and their teams.
Once we have established an assessment criteria with our client, we proceed to develop a customized assessment for each candidate to complete. This tailored approach ensures that we capture specific information relevant to the individual and their fit within the company. The assessment comprises various sections, one of which focuses on comparing each candidate with the company's culture. This section helps determine the alignment between the candidate's values, beliefs, and work style with the organization's ethos. Additionally, the assessment includes a comprehensive review of each candidate's competencies, skillsets, and aptitude, juxtaposed with a carefully selected range of behaviors from our EQ/IQ framework. This allows us to evaluate candidates holistically, considering both their emotional intelligence and intellectual intelligence. By incorporating these diverse elements into the assessment process, we gather a well-rounded understanding of each candidate, ensuring a thorough evaluation that considers cultural fit and behavioral competencies.
Our reporting process:
Everything comes together in the final stages of our Leadership Diagnostics, through the production of individual and team reports. These reports contain a detailed summary of our findings, highlighting strengths and weaknesses as well as offering tailored expert advice directly addressing team/individual areas that need development.
Our team assessment report provides a comprehensive analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of a team, utilizing our EQ/IQ framework. Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative data, the report highlights a teams performance across a personalised range of behaviours within our 10 competencies.
The report features insightful graphs and charts that visually represent key observations, allowing for a quick and easy understanding of the team dynamics. These visual aids help identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. The report also includes interesting observations derived from the data, providing valuable insights into team dynamics and potential areas of development.
Overall, the team assessment report offers a comprehensive evaluation that enables assessors to leverage the strengths in their teams and address any weaknesses to enhance team performance and effectiveness.
In addition to the team report, an individual report is also created for each candidate, this report is valuable for both the candidate themselves as well as the client. These reports provide detail on the gap between how candidates assessed themselves and how they were assessed by their evaluators. They also provide individual candidates with specific resources curated from our Global Resource Library that can help them build on their weaknesses (see below section)
The team report:
Global Resource Library:
Our leadership library has over 1000 resources and caters to both aspiring leaders aiming to reach a higher level of performance as well as established leaders looking to stay sharp and keep up to date with the latest trends and developments.
The resource library contains:
All of the content neatly aligns to at least one of of our key EQ or IQ competencies, allowing leaders to easily identify content relevant to their particular development needs. We are constantly updating and refreshing our library to ensure that the latest trends in business and technology thought leadership are covered.
